Octopus -
a rechargeable contactless stored value smart card used to transfer electronic payments in online or offline systems in our city. It is widely used for all public transport in HK. Also, it can use for payment at convenice stores, supermarkets, fast-food restaurants, parking meters, car parks and vending machines.
When I was young, my wallet was untidy and bulky since I had to brought a lot of coins. I hate it so much! I like Octopus since I can bring my Octopus only and enjoy my convenience life.
Skype - 
a software application that allows user to make a telephone calls over the Internet. Calls to other users of the service and to free-of-charge numbers are free, while calls to other landlines and mobile phones can be made for a fee. Additional features include instant messaging, file transfer and video conferencing.
I think Skype is a wonderful software in the world! Without Skype, I have to spend HK$1.98/min for calling my BEST friend whose living at Natherlands.Haha.... I love SKYPE so much!
Hi Christy, you've chosen two good examples. Here's a follow-up question you may consider adding to your post. Aside from operational excellence, Octopus cards can offer a way for retailers to collect information about their customers through the Octopus Rewards program. Could you share a bit about this too ?

回覆刪除When you subscribe the Octopus Rewards program, you shall provide the following personal data, such as:
a. Your name;
b. Your gender;
c. Contact details, including contact name, contact address and telephone number or email address;
d. Information for the verification of identity, including identification type and identifcation number;
e. Your date of birth;
f. Your Membership Octopus number; and
g. Your Membershop Octopus usage data.
Your personal data may be used for Octopus/ retails to providing you with selected offers, promotions and benefits. The mentioned data to enable Octopus/retails to better understand the member charteristics and to provide a service/promotion to the consumer.
Retails can co-ordinate with Octopus in order to collect the consumer buying habit / interest throught this award program.
